Other Treatments & Hair Transplant Surgery

Besides Tricotain, the only proven treatments that help with hair loss are Minoxidil, Finasteride, or Dutasteride.

Minoxidil

Minoxidil is a medication commonly used to treat hair loss, including male and female pattern hair loss (androgenic alopecia). It is available in topical formulations, typically as a liquid solution or foam, and is applied directly to the scalp.

Tricotain shampoo clears the scalp of inflammation, reduces oxidative stress, and allows topical solutions such as Minoxidil to penetrate the root of the hair follicle, making them much more effective than before.

Finasteride & Dutasteride

Finasteride and dutasteride are prescription medications used to treat hair loss, particularly male pattern hair loss (androgenetic alopecia). They belong to a class of drugs called 5-alpha-reductase inhibitors and work by targeting the hormonal factors that contribute to hair loss.

They can be effective in many cases of androgenic areata but typically require ongoing use to maintain their benefits, as discontinuing the medication may lead to a return of hair loss. As with any medication, there can be side effects, and individuals considering these treatments should discuss their options and potential risks with a healthcare provider.

While these medications work by blocking some of the 5-alpha reductase enzymes, they do not prevent the full spectrum of oxidative stress that takes place in the dermal papilla and hair follicle.

Tricotain neutralises the cellular damage caused by free radicals while ensuring that the scalp is healthy and in optimum condition for hair growth, allowing the topical versions of these potent medications to reach the target site at the root of the hair follicle.

Hair Transplant Surgery

Hair transplants, particularly using micro-graphing techniques, can produce excellent results. But caring for your hair and scalp before and after the hair transplants is very important.

Pre-Surgery

Tricotain shampoo helps in two ways. Firstly, it helps stabilise hair loss so that more existing, healthy hair is already in the areas targeted for surgery.

Secondly, Tricotain shampoo contains highly effective antimicrobials and anti-oxidants that help ensure your hair and scalp are in optimum health with a calm, scale-free scalp, something that the many hair transplant surgeons we work with tell us is very important before surgery. The hair, after all, is a product of the scalp, so the healthier the scalp, the better it is for the hair, old and new.

Post-Surgery

When used after the hair transplant surgery, Tricotain helps to retain all the hair on the scalp – both the newer transplanted hair and the older existing hairs.

Surgery causes inflammation within the scalp and follicle; the antioxidant effects of Tricotain help to reduce this very effectively, leading to the best results possible as the scalp microbiome is maintained, allowing the hair to thrive.
